From what would have become firewood or rotted wood in the forest comes an heirloom wooden bowl that can last for generations.
The simplicity in form allows the natural wood tones to be the focal point of each of my pieces. Each vessel is worked from start to finish on the wood lathe. All bowls from my studio are of local hardwoods from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
My favorite turning wood is burl of any of the hardwoods. Burl is caused by a distress in the tree and it looks like an outward protuding growth . The result can be some beautiful turning wood.
